We have moved to pastures new...
Awareness with Horses have moved to beautiful new premises at Dreamwood Farm, Higher Ashton, on the outskirts of Haldon Forest, still close to Dartmoor and just 7 miles from the centre of Exeter.

Dreamwood offers everything we had hoped for. Our new base is much more accessible to both existing and new clients, including those who need our services most. We are now just 10 mins from the A38 Exeter Racecourse turn off via Haldon Forest and also just 12 mins from A30 Alphington Junction just west of Exeter.

We wanted to be based with another compatible enterprise, and Dreamwood Farm offers us that too. Dreamwood is a family run smallholding and woodland, owned by Sarah and John Ponti who are already offering both children and adults the space to reconnect with nature and experience outdoor fun on the land and with their animals including their own ponies. There are 7 acres of paddocks and over 20 acres of stunning, ancient woodland. Collaborating with Dreamwood Farm is already a positive step forward. The magical woodland offers the unique experience of allowing  horses and humans to walk through and explore in total privacy  - we are making the most of this by offering some completely new events - Forest Bathing with Horses click here to read more.

Our team of 4 special horses Arthur, William, Harry and Honey moved to Dreamwood Farm on 3rd June and we started giving sessions and workshops a week later once they had settled in. Most of the photographs were taken during the first few days of being here, plus there's an extra one of a Forest bathing event.

We are now much more accessible…
Awareness with Horses CIC is a not-for-profit organisation that works with both young people and adults offering one to one and group sessions in learning and growth through the naturally occurring therapeutic and transformative opportunities horses can provide. This can help with self awareness and well-being, and develop potential and skills which transfer forwards into peoples everyday lives.

Moving to Dreamwood and being much closure to Exeter and the Torbay area means we are now able to offer more opportunities to young people and adults who are disadvantaged, vulnerable or excluded. Plus to fund this work, we will be offering a range of workshops from mindfulness to leadership with profits helping to finance bursaries and discounted sessions to those who need our services most but cannot afford to pay anything like what it costs us to run our sessions or courses. We are also offering more one-to-one sessions in equine assisted counselling and coaching.

Our company name is now Awareness with Horses CIC
We changed our name from Adventures with Horses to Awareness with Horses back in the spring. Awareness with Horses describes what we do much better. The name Adventures with Horses was thought up rather quickly. Having been given the opportunity of renting 7 beautiful acres and some lovely old farm buildings on Dartmoor we started our enterprise sooner than planned. On hindsight the "Adventures" part of the name didn't truly reflect what we do - Awareness with Horses would have always been a much better name. Equine facilitated or assisted learning and therapy is still a relatively new intervention and we have found a major drawback of the name Adventures with Horses was it created a misconception that what we do is some kind of of horse riding adventure.

Message of gratitude from Sue Blagburn
"I feel gratitude that I found a place a new place to practice Equine Assisted Learning & Therapy so soon. My intent is to continue to develop an equine assisted learning and therapy practice that is extremely professional, rooted in ecopsychology and able to offer interventions that can help with awareness and wellbeing in the complex and often stressed world we all live. I would like to give a heartfelt thank you for everyone who has come and worked with us and supported us over the last 5 years at Middle Stoke Farm. I now feel excited to be moving forward in developing even more sessions and workshops at Dreamwood Farm!"
